Community School playground

Over three days in May some of the Shedders joined a volunteer workgroup to install the 12 new  outdoor gym equipment machines at the Community School. After loads of hand digging through the rocky subsoil we were able to create the individual pits for the 550mm deep concrete bases. Concrete was mixed, barrowed and poured. 110 bags of cement and over 200 barrowloads of concrete mix apparently! The machines were set in place and after a few days  were opened for use. The equipment will be for school use during school-hours and available for adults at all other times. We had a terrific squad of helpers, kids and adults....an all-round community effort supervised by pro builders Steven Skea and Duncan Rae.  Refreshments were kindly  provided by Helen and Lorna and John from
59-degreesnorth.co.uk surprised us with a generous donation of his wonderful pizzas, sides and soft drinks to help us make it through the final day  ! Well done all.
